Happy New Year to everyone.
Remember that today, January 1st, is the theoretical launch of PSD2 in Redsys. I say theoretical, as several banks have decided to postpone the forced launch until the 10th.
What consequences does it have for store managers? The direct consequence is that you need to find out if you already have PSD2 running on your terminal or not. If you do, you need to activate PSD2 in the plugin settings, either in the Premium version of WooCommerce.com (version 13.0.0 or higher) or the free version from wp.org (version 3.0.0 or higher).
If you do not activate it, many card payments may start to fail due to not sending a series of necessary fields, and in the case of 1-click payments or subscriptions, all may fail as the non-secure terminal has disappeared due to the new regulations.
If you have subscriptions, you need to request that MIT be activated for the renewal process to proceed without issues. Some banks may automatically activate MIT if you have a non-secure terminal, but this is not guaranteed.
A recurring question is whether you change the encryption phrase (SHA256), and the answer is no, it does not change. You should not modify any configuration parameters, only the PSD2 activation one.
If you do not yet have PSD2 active on the terminal, you should not activate it in the plugin as it would cause errors.
What you should do is activate PSD2 in the plugin, and then, in the case of the WordPress.org plugin, try to make a real payment to see if it works, just card, no need for Bizum. If you can do it without problems, leave it active. In the case of the Premium version, activate PSD2 and go directly to make a payment using a token without leaving the site in real-time, if it works for you, leave it active.

Needless to say, if the previous tests fail, deactivate it and contact your bank’s support email and ask them to activate PSD2 for you, so they will notify you once it has been activated, and it won’t catch you by surprise when it is a forced activation.
I hope this helps you to migrate to the new European regulations without many problems.
Happy New Year to everyone again.
