Some time ago, and when I say time, I mean a few years, I wanted to develop a Redsys plugin for InvoiceScripts. What was happening was that, between one thing and another, I couldn’t find the moment, since starting to develop for a new platform is not just getting up one day and starting to develop like crazy; you have to learn how it works first to be able to do it. And the second thing was that for InvoiceScripts 2017 (which is the one I was using), it was practically impossible to do it the way I envisioned it in my head.
In August 2019 (almost a year ago), I contacted NeoRazorX to explain what I would like to develop and to ask him where I could find as much information as possible to inform myself. He offered to explain everything to me, I don’t know if because he liked the idea or because he felt sorry for me 😂, so we agreed to talk (the ball was in my court). But who is NeoRazorX? Well, he is Carlos García, a developer of InvoiceScripts. I discovered InvoiceScripts in 2017, and it was due to a news article that came out in several media talking about Carlos and a “smart guy” who started selling InvoiceScripts under another name as if it were his own development, and charging for it.
The fact is that time went by, and I was getting more and more tangled up and finding it complicated to dive into it, since as I mentioned, the problem was not developing; the problem was learning how everything works and getting the hang of it, and mind you, I am still learning, because every time I want to do something new, I have to research how to do it by diving through all the code of InvoiceScripts.
Taking advantage of the confinement at home that gave me more time since I didn’t have to go to meetings outside, I thought it was the moment, now or never, so I contacted NeoRazorX again asking if he could explain everything to me. We agreed to have a video call, and it wasn’t just that he explained it to me; he provided me with a base plugin to work from, which helped me a lot to get started and understand how everything worked.
So I started developing it and consulting him every time I got stuck on something (the truth is that he has had more patience than a saint). My intention has been to launch a first version that makes it easier for our clients to pay invoices in a simple way. Before InvoiceScripts, I was the typical person who created an Excel sheet with invoices, generating them in Word, then creating PDFs and sending them. This meant that at the end of each month, I had an enormous workload. Just like I had to review every quarter that the Excel was correct to send it to the manager. A mistake there could cost me a hefty fine from the tax office. When I started using InvoiceScripts, I saw the light regarding automation; I only had to create invoices manually each month, it did all the calculations for me, and every quarter I could export everything to Excel, ensuring that there were no errors. But I still had the hassle of generating the invoices. What I did was duplicate the invoices, and in this way, I saved a lot of time; logically, InvoiceScripts assigns a new number when duplicating them. But it still consumed time, and I could forget to generate one. Then I discovered the plugin that automates invoice generation “Scheduled delivery notes“. For me, it is a “Must Have”. Every month, quarter, year, or whenever I want (I schedule each delivery note to generate a new one and create the invoice automatically with the frequency I desire), and then all I have to do is send them from the InvoiceScripts administration, which is just pressing a button.
But there was one last point to solve for total automation, and that was not having to keep an eye on whether a client had paid me or not. It drives me crazy having to check if I have been paid, what they have paid, when they have paid, etc. Just like everything mentioned before, it consumes too much time. And this is where my plugin comes in. From now on, anyone who has this plugin for InvoiceScripts, once the generated invoice is sent, the client will have a link to follow it, and they will be able to pay by credit card (for now, because I will be adding all the payment methods that Redsys offers, which are many). If you want to see many of the things that can end up in this plugin, see all the options my premium plugin for WooCommerce has and you will get an idea of what is to come.
As a picture is worth a thousand words, here is a video explaining everything.
